Based on the celebrated novel by children’s writer Michael Morpurgo the War Horse play is an award winning smash hit which has captivated audiences taking them on an unforgettable journey through history. Set in the First World War, War Horse is a tale of bravery, loyalty and an extraordinary bond between a young recruit and his horse.
At the outbreak of World War One, a young boy named Albert becomes separated from his beloved horse Joey after he is sold to the cavalry and sent to France. Joey ends up serving for both of the warring armies and eventually taken to no man's land. But he is never forgotten by Albert who cannot stop thinking about his friend and is ready to take on the impossible and bring Joey home.
Throughout the breathtaking production of the War Horse play, life sized puppets are brought alive on stage by the amazing Hangspring Puppet Company which will take you on an emotional journey through history. War Horse found its home at the New London Theatre, Drury Lane which made its name for being the original home of the musical Cats.
